Plastic Recycling Collection begins April 2009
Up until now "Waste Plastics (hai purasuchikku-rui)" have been disposed of with your burnable garbage (moeru gomi). However, beginning April 1st, 2009 waste plastics will be collected seperately.
Please dispose of your unwanted household plastic waste in the designate garbage bag (plastics-only recycling bag). Please also remember to properly tie up and label (with your name) the plastics waste bag before disposing it.

What are "Waste Plastics"? |
Waste Plastics are containers, wrappers, and other daily household plastics marked with the following symbol:

"Pura"
The following examples are considered waste plastics:

Bottles: Grocery and daily household plastics
- Sauce, soup, dressing, and dairy product containers
- Detergent, shampoo, and conditioner containers
- Mayonnaise and ketchup-shaped tubes

Bags: Grocery and household item plastic bags
- Vegetable, noodle, and bread bags; instant noodle wrappers, candy wrappers
- Instant and frozen food packaging; grocery bags

Plastic Lids, Films,& Nets
- PET bottle caps and plastic labels
- Plastic lids of bottled goods such as foods and seasonings
- Mandarin orange and onion nets

Cups & Packaging: Grocery and household item plastics
- Instant noodle, pudding, and jelly cups; egg cartons
- Side dish and bento/lunch box containers

Other Plastic Goods
- Toys, CDs, plastic buckets, wash bins, vinyl planter sheets, rulers, small cases, etc.

Waste Plastics Separation & Disposal Procedure |
Please be sure to dispose of your plastics in the "Designated Plastics Bag" ( プラスチック専用指定袋 [Purasuchikku Senyo Shitei Bukuro]) )
Plastics will not be collected if not disposed of in the proper designated bag.
Please remove bottle contents, cap or lid, and wash thoroughly before disposing.
Please rinse out the remnants in any food bags, cups, or containers with water before disposing.
If for whatever reason you cannot remove food remnants even after washing, please dispose of the item with your burnable garbage (moeru gomi).
Please dispose of plastic wrap as burnable garbage (moeru gomi).
If any metals or rubbers are attached, please remove before disposal.

Cautionary Notes |
Be sure to leave grocery and vinyl bags empty before inserting into plastics recycling bag.
Do not include kitchen or paper waste under any circumstances.
Dispose of PET bottles and styrofoam garbage (food trays) on resource waste garbage days.
Dispose of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) objects with your burnable waste (moeru gomi).
Examples: PVC Pipes (household items), vinyl umbrellas (vinyl portion), water hoses, rubber swimming tubes, synthetic leather products (shoes, bags, wallets, etc.), beach balls, etc.
